I got a message saying "This installation package is not supported by this
processor type. This computer is only a year old (media center edition XP)
and as far as I know, it has an Intel 4 chip. What's wrong with this
picture??

TIA

The 64-bit version is for 64-bit OS versiºns. Is named Windows Defender64.msi
The 32-bit version is for the 99% of the users is named Windows Defender.msi

The X64 is the 64bit installer - unless you have the 64bit XP Pro (which most
do not have) you will wªnt "WindowsDefender.msi"

A thousand thanks! That really DID help and yes, I had inadvertently
downloaded the wrong version.

Frankly, I blame the web page designers for that problem. Perhaps the
versions could be better differentiated on the page because that's what I got
using "windows defender 32 bit download" as a search term. Anyway, once I
knew I needed to *read the fine print*, I had to LOL at the 32 bit
version.... because it's called x86. Whoda thunk?

Thanks Again,
sf
