for some time now no matter what Anti-Spyware will not save settings. I have
unistalled and reinstalled several times but no matter how many reinstalls or
reboots evertime I click on the toolbar icon or it's start menu icon I get
the set up wizard every time and even is I set up Auto Update that gets
unset. I can save settings close it and ASAP open it and the settings are
undone again.

Hello XChrome,

Try these two solutions:

A) You can repair Windows AntiSpyware using Add or Remove Programs in
Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and click Change. Click Next, and
then click Updªte.

B)Goto: Start/Control Panel/Add-Remove programs/MSAS then click on support
info!!! Then click on repair!

Then, try these steps:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> type in -> command)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quºtes).
3) Close and re-open Windows Defender.

You can go ahead and do both of these--neither has any downside risk--and
see if that does the jºb.

Let us know whether it does, or nºt!

I have been having the same issue. The program has worked perfectly for six
months, but is now forgetting all settings immediately, and everytime the
program opens, it shows me the initial install screens.

I did the repair, the regsvr32 command, and deleted the userdata file. No
effect. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Maybe it is time for a reinstall:

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware

2) delete \program files\microsoft antispyware and all subfolders. You will
lose access to all quarantined items, history, and custom settings.

3) reinstall Microsoft Antispyware from a current download, logged in as
administrator.

(or, maybe wait a bit and see whether beta2 appears soon and whether that
takes care of the problems.)
