Not Result just Shows Formula

My spreadsheet only shows the below formula and not the
result. I know this might not be an app error but I can
not figure out why it is only showing the result. The
interesting thing is that I can open a new spreadsheet and
paste the formula in a cell. And result appears.

The Formula box is unchecked under Tools Options View
Tab. The spreadsheet is not protected.

Does anyone have other ideas why a cell would only display
the formula not the result of the formula. Help.

=IF(A2>100,"One Hundred","Not")

assuming that you have entered in cell (typed as displayed
in question), check that the worksheet is not set as
display formulae via the tools, option tab
 
I am experiencing the same problem only some cells
display the results of the formula and some cells display
the formula including the = sign. If I copy a cell that
is displaying the results and paste it into a cell
displaying a formula the cell then displays the
results!! any ideas?
 
Highlight the cells and check the formats are all NOT 'text'
(Format>cells...>Number).

Two possibilities:

1. The cell is formatted as text

- change the number format to general and F2-enter the cell.

2. FOrmulas are showing.

- Hit control-' (the thingy above the tab key) to toggle formula view.

I'm encountering the same issue with Excel 97. Tried the
suggestion below, didn't change anything.
