"Not Responding" During Definition Update

Does anyone know why the Anti Spyware software comes up as
"Not Responding" in my Ctrl-Alt-Delete Applications
everytime I try to update the definitions. The whole
system locks up & I end up having to reboot, I've had 13
August 2005 definitions ever since I installed this
software. I'm running Windows XP with Service Pack2 and
have dial up internet access??

Any help is appreciated. JB

I think you are experiencing normal occurrence in MSAS, it seems to hang
during the definition update, but it is actually obtaining the updates, a
better obtains is to AutoUpdater turned on (Options > Settings) or File >
Check for Updates (Manual)
