not powering off HELP ME

when i shut windows down it comes up on the screen and says computer i
ready to shut down and it goes into a sort of hibernation but th
tower is still on i have to push the power button in for 5 seconds
ive tried changing the power options setting but no change i want to b
able to close windows down and it turn off completely without sayin
computer is now ready to shut down .
can anyone help me

shut down your computer

See in particular Step 5, if the machine isn't ACPI compliant.

(The first machine I installed XP on had ACPI turned off in the BIOS, so I
had to use the legacy setting. Later, I re-installed XP with ACPI activated
in the BIOS, and didn't need the setting.)


Address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.
