Not keeping address bar history

Recently I have been having a problem with all address bar listings. I used
to be able to open two windows of IE 6.0 (i have Win XP) & type in a new
address in the second window & NOT have it actually register in the history
(if I press the down triangle it wouldn't be there). Whereas, if I type
something in the first window it would stay in the history. As far as I know
I haven't downloaded anything since I started this problem. Now no matter
how many windows I open it registers & keeps moving previous address' down
the list & therefore losing some that I wanted to keep in the drop down. Any
ideas??

Hi,
I think I've seen that behaviour. I don't know how to get it back, but here
are some workarounds:
This article explains the TypedURLs history:
157729 - How to Clear the History Entries in Internet Explorer:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q157729
Removing some or all entries is an easy registry edit.

These two freeware programs make it easy to remove SOME or ALL entries:
IE Address Bar Editor: http://www.freesoft.fsnet.co.uk/ieedit01.htm
EditURLs: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/index.htm

If you enter URLs via File> Open or Ctrl+o they won't be saved in the
TypedURLs list. You can keep a select few entries in that list.

Hope this helps,
Don
