Not exporting properly; HEEELP!!!! :(

All righty, to the point, or else i'll bable on like mad:

COMPUTERS INVOLVED:
-win95 (yeah, still!) desktop
-win XP, laptop

SOFTWARE INVOLVED:
-Office 2K (but this is regarding Outlook only)

ISSUE:
OK... picture the CONTACTS window; 1st i had office97,
which had a "journal" tab. I exported my contacts from
Ofcice97 (on W95) into Office2K (on W95). The JOURNAL tab
isn't in 2K, but it transferred everything to the
ACTIVITIES tab. So we're ok here.

Then i exported CONTACTS from Of.2K/W95 into Of.2K/Win XP
laptop. SEVERAL TIMESSSSSS.... yet the darn ACTIVITIES
tab is NOT showing my notes (some entries show ONE, but i
have several on all of them). If i export THIS laptop
file back to the W95 computer, all my activities are
there.

Can some kind soul tell me what this TWILIGHT ZONE
episode is about? Thanks....... <:)

Hi there... thanks for replying... i said "export"
because that's how Outlook calls the procedure of saving
the pst file... i'm not what you'd call an expert user
y'know lol... what i do is i do the "export" thing (on
w95) so i can create a pst file that i can use... THEN i
indeed copy it and put it into the laptop (XP) with
the "import" function/feature... is that what you mean,
or is there another way of copying the file into Outlook?

Thanks again... MC.

Why are you exporting?
Just copy and reuse the PST.

Exporting is not how Outlook saves a PST. It's how you can convert a PST to
other formats. Exporting to another PST file simply exports some data and
leaves behind other data and settings, which is why you should simply copy
and reuse a PST, not export and import it.

Well, as i said i'm not an expert, so "exporting" was the
only way i knew to make a file of my contacts (and their
contents). So, HOW do you properly make such file and how
do you copy it?

Thanks-

Do you only need your Contacts? Most users need all their Outlook data and
should copy their entire PST file. That is done in Windows Explorer, not
Outlook.

If you only want a copy of your Contacts, you could use Outlook to create a
new PST file, copy your Contact into it, then copy that PST file using
Windows Explorer.

There is a good discussion on this here:
