If you bought Microsoft software in California in the 90s you may be able to
get up to $100 worth of software for 4 mins of your time. See
http://www.MSfreePC.com/ If you are not a Linux person and want to donate
the software to develop true freeware (Open Source) on the Linux platform
there is facility to do so. If you are entitled to the compensation and
don't intend to complete the pile of paperwork visit the site and do us all
a favour and claim then donate.....
