not enough virtual memory

This error message is popping up on my computer every day
and I noticed, when it does that, I can no longer sign on
AOL...it says the modem is busy or missing. Then I have
to reboot, but everything freezes so I have to spend the
next 5 minutes trying Shift,Ctrl,Delete in order to bring
up task manager to allow me to shut AOL down....otherwise
it keeps trying to dial 20 times and it won't let me do
anything else. Eventually, I'm able to do the Shut-down,
but it takes forever because XP just lags when this
happens. What is causing this virtual memory error? My
computer is fairly new and I have tried clearing out
files, doing Scan disk, doing "DISK CLEANUP", doing DISK
DEFRAGMENTER, clearing out my internet cache....nothing
helps. I get the message (it seems) every time I let the
computer just sit for a while. It's NOT when I'm doing
anything in particular, just when it idles for a while.
 
This sounds more like a virus.Do you have an antivirus?
if not get one.www.free-av.com for one.And do you have
your firewall on?
Its very helpfull to have an antivirus and one or more
firewalls operating on your system.
