That's the error message I've started getting when I try
to access network drives from my laptop (working as a
desktop in my home office) running W2000 Pro. The drives
are in an XP desktop in my wife's home office. This
started when I installed a new 80-gig backup external
Maxtor drive to the XP machine. I was trying to map the
laptop to the new drive when I got the error message, but
I now get the same error message when I try to access the
two drives which had previously been available.

Wha's up?? -- and how do I fix it?

Hi, Steve --

Thanks very much for the leads.

I read the articles, then went to the registry and changed
(actually, entered, per instructions, since it wasn't
there before) "IRPStackSzie" 18. That didn't work, so
(again per instructions) I went back and increased it to
25. Still no luck. I note that there is a parameter in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\LANMAN
SERVER\PARAMETERS that is simply "Size," which was set
to "0." Could that have any impact on the situation?

A P.S. -- Dr. Watson shows "80004002 Raise Exception
(7C57E592) at 11:29 yesterday morning." It was after that
time that I tried to map the new drive and access the
older ones. Any relationship to the problem?
