receive the following error messgae when opening up
excel, even if i close all other windows out: "can not
open with available resources. Please close out...."
Memory should not be an issue since i have 1gb of ram and
recently reformatted my hard drive due to this problem
and it is still occuring.

I have the same problem. File size = 51 meg. Ram =1 gig. Nothing else open. I still get Not enough memory error. But workbook opens and all date is there. I show having 66% of Ram still open and available. Is there a limit on Ram that Excel can use possibly

Thanks
Bob

Resources in Microsoft terminology does not usually refer to RAM. It
refers to the total working space allocated by the OS or an application
for things like graphics, file references, and the like. If this were
Win9x, the solution would be to delete temp files, temp internet files,
objects on the desktop, limiting the number of installed fonts, and a
bunch of other stuff I cannot recall at present. You might try doing a
disk cleanup to see if that helps.

For those who insist on keeping their computers running 24/7, part of
the solution is a reboot.
