Not displaying some graphics while on www

Can anyone help me. Sometimes certain graphics do not show on a web
page. All I get is a placeholder like circle with a clock hand all
inside a peice of 35mm film. Sorry but that is the best way I can
describe it. I obviously need to download something but what?
 
That icon sounds like its indicating a Quicktime file.....somehow Quicktime
is being used to try and display the images. hence the icon of the "clock"
(like the stylised Quicktime logo (?)) and the 35mm film - indicating a
movie or animation).

Without seeing the page I can't speculate further...
