Hi,
I'm tinkering with a Win200 Server, which is running DHCP, DNS and
WINS.
I have just promoted the server using DCPROMO and changed my WinXP Pro
machine to join the domain 'familyname.local'.
The XP machine logs onto the domain OK, but in the 'Log on to Windows'
dialog, the 2 choices in the 'Log on to' drop-down are:
- familyname
- OFFICE (this computer)
Could someone please explain why the '.local' has disappeared from the
domain name?
Being such a newbie, I don't know whether this is normal behaviour or
due to a mistake on my part (most likely).
Thanks in anticipation
