Help!!!!
It seems as tho a nasty trojan has caused the McAffe virus device to not
only contain and delete the horse but it took out the user's local settings
file also. All three administrators are denied their files or any advanced
system files. T cannot nor can they down load , repair , remove or any other
higher end function . This is a serious dent in the system and I would sure
like to know how to get around the security and add another admin.

thank you very much

Tyler

It's not worth the trouble. Best to start a new install. To do a clean
install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set
of four install disks can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change
to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos)
or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Be sure to apply these to your new install before connecting to any network.

David,
seems as tho I really got messed up.
Your reply/solution was and is very easy to follow, even for a knuckle
dragger like me.
Problem now being I bought the machine used with the OS previously installed.
I do have a brand new certified, unopened copy of '98'#2 with start disc. Can
I extract the needed file and replace the scrubbed file in my machine?

If using win9* you will I suspect only be able to clean install, ie format
first therefore losing all data.
Even if your data is on another partition / hd, if its ntfs format win9*
cannot read it
Win 9* is totally different to win2k/xp

Any pc used or new without the software, or means to recover is a disaster
waiting to happen

Not sure what file you're talking about. What you need to do is backup your
data and clean install an operating system.
