Not allowing logon to Access 2000

I've been having problems with Access 2000 lately.
When ever I try to load a file or create a new file, Access prompts me for a Name and Password. Anything I try, including "Admin" and a blank password field is simply rejected. I've read a number of sites on the internet, and tried a number of methods I have read about on thsi discussion group, and they don't seem to work.
I've also tried a number of applications I found on the internet to find the password/name, and they tell me that "Admin" and a blank password should work.

Would re-installing Access help to clear this problem?

I would very much appreciate any help anyone could give me regarding this issue.

(Please don't just say "Search for some help", because I've exhausted all possible options regarding that method I can think of).

Many thanks in advance.

No, reinstalling Access won't do it. Are you sure you are logging in with
the correct workgroup file (which is most likely system.mdw)? You can check
it by opening Access, selecting Tools - Security - Workgroup Admininstrator
and noting the name. If this doesn't work, you may be SOL ... have you tried
to apply security on the database? Check Tony Toews site (Google on his
name) for info regarding database corruption ... something might ring a
bell.

Thankyou for suggesting that I check the workgroup file. It looks like someone had entered the wrong file. Access seems to be working fine now
Many thanks for your help
