Not allowing 'Check for updates'

Enquiring

Hi - when trying 'File' then 'Check for updates' program fails with
message 'Warning. could not connect to the Internet!'. Has anyone else
experienced this, or can provide hints/tips to resolve?

I have Internet access via Internet Explorer to www as well as being
able to post this message.

Took me about 40 attempts and then it connected. It's not
something on your end. Looks to be the server it's trying
to connect to on the back end. Keep trying and eventually
it will connect.
