Hi!
Have just installed Office 2003 and a problem occurs when importing data. In
the Import dialog box there are only a few fileformats to choose from! For
example are the Excel and all the dBase formats are missing! How do I get
them to appear in that combobox?

Well, now I've tried to follow the instructions from the article but hav had
no success.
In the registry the path stated in the artivcle didn't excist so I created
it, for example HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Excel.
In this key value I have entered a string value with the path to the
msexcl40.dll but still after restart of Access and the computer Excel still
doesn't show in the Files of type drop-down box.
Any suggestions?
Could this be a hardware problem with the PCI-bridge or bus?

Thanks!

Hi, Johan.

Did you repair/reinstall office afterwards, then reboot? If this doesn't
work, then you may also want to try reregistering the DLL file. Click
Windows Start, and then click Run. To register the Msexcl40.dll located in
the default installation directory, use the following command:

Regsvr32.EXE "C:\WINDOWS\System32\msexcl40.dll"

Another problem may be due to not having Administer permissions on the
computer when installing MS Office, or even not selecting to install the
"Custom" installation of Office and selecting all drivers available on the
CD. It's usually best to choose everything available when installing
Office, so that you have a full installation on the computer.
Could this be a hardware problem with the PCI-bridge or bus?

No. It's a software problem. Some parts of MS Office weren't installed
properly.

HTH.

Thanks again Gunny!

I did repair the Office installation but this didn't help! Tried
reregistering the dll's and that was it!

Office was installed as an administrator but maybe these dll's wasn't
registered when installing Office 2003 on a machine running Windows 2000
Professional? I have not seen this problem on an XP machine.

Thanks again!
Johan
