My prob is that when I click on save to CD, the program does not detect the
blank Cd that's in my burner ... anybody got a hint or clue?

Jim,

It might be a different issue, but check the second of the 'Dated but
Timeless Posts' on the CD Burning > Introduction page of my website..... the
issue is more about not being able to find a recordable drive than it is
about not detecting a disc in it. But it might be the same issue.

Jim, is your burner a CD burner or a DVD burner. Movie Maker will not burn
to a DVD burner but it will burn to a CD burner. I am talking about the
machine, not the disc in it. I have both fitted to my system and nothing I
do will convince Movie Maker to do the job with a cd in the DVD drive, the
message you get is along the lines of "Please Insert...."

If this is not the case for you there are some helpful hints on the Disc
Drive Tutorials of my web site that might help (Drive Settings etc)

I'm confused. WMM says that it can produce movie to DVD. Based on your discussion, does this mean that the DVD must created by using (burning) to a CDRW device and not a DVD-CDRW device? Just asking b/c I'm starting a project and don't want to waste DVDs. Those things cost too much... :-

I've created a movie (size: 624MB), and when saving to CD, the error message "not enough space" is displayed, but I'm using a 700MB CD-R. What gives? To copy it, I had to reduce the speed rate from 2.1MB/Sec to 1.5MB/sec. Will that make a big different in viewing it on pc or through dvd player
Thanks.

Hi ther,

No, sorry, Movie Maker can not make a DVD of any sort. It can provide a
DV-AVI output that must be used in DVD authoring software...and thats
it...nothing else in the DVD line.
