Not able to format hd

I know it sounds silly! But i am not able to format my 30
GB Maxtor HD after dividing it into two parts with fdisk!
I hope someone could help me

Did you reboot your computer after making the change in fdisk?
 
Hi,

Why are you bothering with fdisk?

Boot into WinXP, start/run diskmgmt.msc and use this tool to partition and
format the new drive.
