Not able to download critical update service pack 1.

I bought the computer used and have been downloading all
of the latest updates from Microsoft, but there seems to
be a problem downloading the critical service pack #1 due
to a registration number. What should I do? Thank you.

P.S.- The version of Windows I am using is Windows XP.

If you are getting the following error message when attempting to update:

Error Message: The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326904&Product=winxp

You'll have to purchase a new "Full Version" of Windows XP Professional
and perform a "Repair Install" using the new Windows XP Pro CD and Product Key
that comes with it. (You cannot simply change the Product Key)

to get the critical service pack, first you need to

download update mx03-026 you will find it by search in
the download section of microsoft. hope this helps
