I am having trouble creating a movie from a 25 minute long movie file. It seems to lock up right from the beginning. I start by creating a "High Quality Video". It runs for about 5 minutes and then gives me a message saying, "Unable to save movie". I have a Pentium 4 2.53 MHz, 256M RAM Dell PC

I finally got it to work by unloading a ton of stuff out of RAM. Turned off Norton AV and a bunch of other programs using SpyBotS&D. This appeared to clear the memory necessary

I also recommend bumping up Virtual Memory. While the movie was finishing, I got a MS Windows XP "Virtual Memory To Low" error

Anyone else have any advice for improving the performance of Movie Maker

HI there,

Your Virtual Memory should be set to one and a half time the amount of ram that
you have.....any more is simply a waste of disk and processing power.

Turning off Norton AV on a system with a slow processor is good.

Removing resident programs from RAM is good if you have say less than half a
Gig of RAM

You should also make sure that your Hard Drive has been cleaned of spurious
files and then defragmented.

The speed of your computer is just fine, The RAM, well really its only just
enough to run Win XP and the non video basic programs.
