Hi there,

I have a JVC DVF21U and it seemed to work OK, the one
time I tried it (I'm mainly in VHS capture).

In my instructions they recommend that you use the AC
Adapter to power the camera, rather than the battery.
Also, it's a good rule of thumb to exit all other active
applications on the task bar -- just right-click them and
select "exit"... especially any anti-virus and firewall
software.

When you connect the cam do you get the xp ping > found new hardware, and
does the cam show up in device manager? When in movie maker, do you have
control over the cam from the pc interface? How was the video recorded, SP
or LP, using 12bit or 16 bit sound? are there many stops and starts in the
timecode? have you tried capturing just a very short piece in an unbroken
piece of timecode? How are you saving the movie to the pc, as a std dv-avi
file? Do you have enough space for this?

Have a look in
www.papajohn.org > problem solving see if that helps, I'm sure there is a
piece in there about this.
