"not a valid win32 Application???

Just tried installing vista 64, but cannot do it via XP pro or via boot-up.
below is what I have tried so far:

1) burned the .ISO at 4x & 8X, same error with both
2) created a partition (60 gigs in size)
3) tried running setup via the command prompt
4) Tried booting off of the DVD

I have a P4 3.6Ghz, 2 gigs ram, etc, etc.

Suggestions? bad .iso download? or should I just format the drive and start
from scratch?

If you launched setup from within Windows XP x86, you will get this error,
Windows Vista x64 requires that you either boot from the DVD or launch setup
from within Windows XP x64.
