Hi,

for now I need help. I got an Asus A8N with an AMD 3500+ and an 716A Plextor
DVD burner.

Now I burned some audio CDs. they all sound noisy, like too loud.

I deinstalled the NVidia drivers reinstalled Nero, everything. I do not know
a solution.

I think those days where over. The Cds sound like recorded from a vinyl.

any help?

Sounds like your having trouble with your burning application or
the Plextor. Has nothing to do with the mobo or processor.
Try to rip HD first and check the wav, before burning.

NOPE. Plextor related. Got a confirmation from Plextor today. They got
troubles with NVidia Chipsets.

Workaround: Disable DMA transfer and set Windows to PIO mode: Works!! It
works, I cannot believe it!!!

My god my all above brand is selling the worst bruner ever the 716. I got
only problems with that drive since I got it!!

Blame NVidia, i don´t think so, because my BenQ 1620 works perfect.

The best thing is: Enable PIO Mode in the Windows drivers, not even in the
BIOS.

Frank
Only probem with PIO mode is you cant really do a lot else while
burning, plus you will loose system performance with just PIO.

I would chose the BenQ 1620 over the Plextor any day. The Nec 3500
is also a very good drive.
I used to have SCSI Plextor's in the old days when they were still top
of the bill. The ide models are way overpriced for quality that's no
better than any average drive. And on top of that, you get this
problems for free :)

Not really an acceptable solution, to disable DMA. It might work, but
you get to much stress on your cpu. Especially when burning at
higher speeds. Hopefully they will try to fix things with new
firmware, if possible.
