NAV 2003 has the option to scan email. If you have that enabled then,
unless something were undetected for some reason, you shouldn't have any
infected email files in Outlook Express. *.dbx is the extension for OE
mail and news group folders.

NAV disables .dbx files by default, I believe, because the scanning of
them can cause a whole mailbox to be deleted, if anything suspicious is
detected. It can't isolate the specific mail file or attachment to
quarantine or deleted.

Recommendation: Do not enable scanning of .dbx files. Save any email
attachments you are expecting to disk and scan them before opening.
Delete any attachments you aren't expecting.

one more thing do you know what is the reason ad aware scans like 100 files
and then does a real quick scan of more than 35000 files (mostly registry
files ) and than continuesfile by file scanning is that normal or ...
what is the best program for antivirus protection... are there any advices
you have for automatic protection in windows xp options anyway thanx for
the info...

I'm having trouble understanding you. If I think I know what you mean:

1. Yes, AdAware will scan registry files very quickly; much more quickly
than the scan of program or systerm files and folders
2. Which program is best for A/V protection is very subjective. There
are good programs you can select from. For reference see:
www.virusbtn.com
www.av-comparatives.org
3. Set Windows XP to automatically check for XP updates. If you're not
using a 3rd party personal firewall, use the Windows XP firewall.
