Hello,

Between Norton and McAfee, which one has the fewest conflicts with other
software & hardware.

The cost and performance are mostly equal, I want the one that will give me
the fewest conflicts with Windows XP environment and Outlook Express.

What do you think??

Taking the path of least resistance isn't a good method for selecting
software. I can almost promise that different owners of XP systems will have
differing opinions on the two choices you've
given yourself. Your question's not answerable, universally. Ask a question
you can get a reliable answer to.

I've been trying both NAV 2003 and Mcafee AV 8.0 for the past 4 weeks on my
XP System (I have OE, but use Outlook.

After careful evaluation of both I went for Mcafee. Slightly less of a drain
on system resources. Judging by threads in this NG, I think there is very
little in it when it comes to detection, removal, etc.

I think it comes down to personal preference. When uninstalling Norton, I
found a lot more 'hidden' files than Mcafee.

McAfee DOS scanner (scan.exe, scanpm.exe, scan86.exe) is the best, by far.
