Does SystemWorks 2001 still provide adequate virus protection even
though it's no longer supported by Symantec so long as it can still
successfully get it's Virus Definitions auto updated regularly?

Does "no longer supported by Symantec" mean that it will no longer be
provided any LiveUpdate "program or product" updates?

If so, how does it handle the increased size Virus Defs for which
later versions were modified by recent LiveUpdate program and/or
product updates?

that depends on what you call adequate...

if you mean 'can only detect older viruses no matter how up to date i
keep my virus defs' then yes, it's adequate...

newer virus defs can only be used properly by the newer virus scanning
engine..

no longer supported means that you should consider something else,
especially since it cannot technically be updated without migrating you
to a newer version of the product...

That's correct. You can continue to update definitions but not the program.
That may or may not matter, unless you have to re-install. Unlike most
software companies, Symantec don't appear to keep old program updates on
their ftp site. I don't think def size is an issue as it's not one big file
but a number of smaller ones.
