A previously intermittent problem has become persistent.

The 'Auto Protect" and the 'e-mail functions either show
they are off or error. Correcting with one-button feature
may leave them green for literally 1-2 seconds, then same
problem.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, emptied temp folder, etc.--
nothing seems to help.

In one Symantec knowledge base article they say
that 'ccRegVfy' should be checked under Msconfig, Startup
tab. It is not present at all. Is this my problem? If so,
I have failed to find it anywhere.

Suggestions, please!

Uninstall, then reinstall Norton.
