I just upgraded a system from 98 to XP. Out of the dark ages.

When I try and run Norton on it. I get the response "The System Administrator has policies set that allow this software to run". Help... What do I need to change.

When I try to uninstall Norton Internet Security, I get the following error. " Error 1066 Cannot access Common Administrative Tools.>Users All" Help!!! What Do I need to change?

I get the same error when I try to install Norton Security 2004.

What version of Norton do you have installed?

Norton 2001 requires a patch in order to operate on Windows XP.
Norton 2000 and earlier are not compatible with Windows XP.

Also Norton Internet Security 2004 appears to be more of a virus than
anything that it might hopefully block. My suggestion would be to
look elsewhere, such as eTrust or AVG, for a reliable quality product.

Good luck

Login to Windows XP using an account that is in the Administrators group
(i.e., has administrative privileges). Doesn't sound like whatever account
you are logging in under has the necessary privileges.

Well said, Ron - couldn't agree more! Haven't used Norton for years...
