I am very puzzled to see that consumers pay a
substantial amount of money to get updates or renewals,
and they do not get any message from these companies who
take the cash and run if problems!! Outrageous!! Tokyo
burning?

I personally have had good luck with responses from Symantec regarding any
questions I had about their product.

No problems with Symantec, Germany.

On this topic.. How do you ask Symantek a question? (I can't seem to
figure it out - other than the toll line.)

(I don't know what to do with the "Files at Risk" listing Norton AntiVirus
gives me after a Scan. It says to click on each one to determine what to do
with it... but, there doesn't seem to be a Delete option... (??)

Thanks,

Palmer

E-mail them. Customer Service.

I'm not sure , but did you try to rt click on those files?

The following was taken from the Norton AntiVirus Help section.
If this is not what you are looking for, try searching more in the Help section.

"Sometimes Norton AntiVirus detects an unknown virus that can't be eliminated
with the current set of virus definitions. Or, you have a file you think is
infected that is not being detected. From the Norton AntiVirus Quarantine, you
can send a file over the Internet directly to Symantec Security Response for
analysis. Symantec Security Response determines if your file is infected. If the
file is not infected, Symantec Security Response reports the results to you. If
your file is infected with a new virus, Symantec Security Response will create
and send you special updated virus definitions to detect and eliminate the new
virus on your computer.

You must have an Internet connection to submit a sample and an email address to
receive a reply. Once you submit the file in question, Symantec responds
immediately with an acknowledgement email message including a tracking number
you should use for further correspondence regarding this file. You are notified
again by email with the results of the final analysis within 48 hours.

In addition to quarantined files, the Quarantine stores two other groups of
items:

Backup Items:
Norton AntiVirus is preset to make a backup copy of a file before attempting a
repair. After the repaired file is verified, you can delete the infected backup
copy from the Quarantine.

Items Submitted To Symantec Security Response:
Files sent to Symantec Security Response for analysis are isolated. After
receiving the results of the analysis, you can determine what to do with the
files.

If you quarantine an individual file out of a compressed file it does not have
an original name to restore to, so no location appears in the Original Location
column."

The question is where are you located? If in Europe you will get an answer
but not in the USA. The US web site give you no email address to contact
them. There is a page hidden but nothing happens from there.

Have you tried following past this link?
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/consumer.html

I think that is where I went to after having problems uninstalling NSW2002Pro
and trying to install NWS2003Pro.

I did a manual removal of NSW2002Pro and also deleted this extra Registry entry
that wasn't listed in the removal procedure in order to get GHOST to work
properly in NSW2003Pro.
That Registry key was:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Features
\9069044A93CBDB94D882F091FA16226C]
