Hi,
Is there anything in Norton 2004 that might stop me sending

TIA

I answered your first post a half-hour ago.

No you didn't.

He is attempting to send attachments, not open them. Did Billy
also set some setting so that attachments aren't able to be sent?

....and since when does a .jpg file constitute an attachment that
"may potentially contain a virus" or however that is worded in
there?

You may be right about what he is experiencing on the receive
side, but that should not affect his ability to send JPEGs to his
friends, or receive JPEGs from them or himself.

Since MyDoom was mentioned, I am wondering if he is really
experiencing side effects of worm infestation coupled with the
setting that you mentioned.

I realize that.

No, they can still be sent. You just can't view them.

Doesn't matter the kind of file. None can be opened. The option blocks
images, documents, everything.

I also thought that he possibly meant the recipient didn't get them,
which was why he was looking in his Sent box. He really wasn't too clear.

MyDoom doesn't use OE; it has its own SMTP engine. Then again, there
may have been a /received/ message with MyDoom attached. Yes?

Not according to the description of the feature, it keeps a list
and JPG and JPEG are not on it (unless the OP has added
them). The OP also used the name MyDoom which now
appears to be the name of the JPG file as displayed by the
OE message. In the other group he asks *if* his friends could
view the picture.

Just a troll maybe....
I also thought that he possibly meant the recipient didn't get them,

He stated that they didn't get them, which made me think that
your approach was in error. Now it seems that the OP isn't
very good at expressing himself.

That is what I was thinking, but now it seems he must have named
the attached file mydoom to confuse people who are trying to help.

I will have no further help to offer this OP, he's on his own.

Actually, while there may have been a received message infected with
MyDoom, the attachment is /not/ named MyDoom, so I have now joined the
camp that the OP doesn't know how to express himself. <g>

From MSs own page concerning this feature:

====
When Outlook Express blocks an attachment, the following
alert is displayed in the message alert bar at the top of the
e-mail message:

Outlook Express removed access to the following unsafe attachments
in your mail: file_name1, file_name2, and so on.
====

So if mydoom was mentioned at all, it was mentioned as a filename
and *not* a malware name.
