My subscription to NAV is current through next year..I cannot run the live
update anymore..it gives a message that one of the new virus defintions is
trying to overwrite a file that is in use..I downloaded the Intelligent
Updater but it seems as thought the regular program is not verifying that
the Updater is keep my protection current..ugh! I have gone through the
"solutions" they offer on their website with no success..
1. does the Intelligent Updater keep my protection current?
2. does anyone here knwo how to fix my live update feature and explain it in
plain English
I'd hate to have to pay for live support..maybe that money should be
directed to a different AV program and I should uninstall Norton
completely..
thanks
Rick
btw.. a gerat group here with a lot of valuable info about a serious
problem..

yes...as you can see..I also found the right newsgroup..thanks for that..:)
I will reattempt to run live update (per your suggestion I verified that I
do indeed have the current version) and copy and paste the messages here to
present my problem and the appranetly unworkable solutions that Norton
suggests. your help has been and will be appreciated once I can communicate
the issues clearly

Prior to another 'investment', try Avast Home Ed 4.1 Free, does
a good job and checks email if that's your thing.

Live update is basically broken and will always break down. If "Intelligent
updater" doesn't work you have a different problem. Which version of NAV are
you running?

A complete uninstall depending on the version (email me directly and I'll
explain how to do that) may be the best solution.

Try editing the "Host" file in Windows. This file could be altered by a
virus, preventing *you* from download any updates.
You can find relevant information about the Host file in Windows on the
Internet, with Google.
