Norton mess up of links?

Tried to clean up my system with Norton SystemWorks. Removed all internet temp files and the like. Now internet items saved on desktop wont open even when the files are clearly there. Worst still, IE takes forever to open if at all and attempts to restore to dates previous to Norton action failed. How do I get out of this mess? Tanx.

Try using system restore to return to a state previous to
the norton scan.
