of them work? thanks

Norton Internet Security includes a firewall.
You need to disable the Windows firewall
when using a third-party firewall.

How to turn on or turn off the firewall in Windows XP

Personal opinion and experience:
Get rid of NIS now. You can use just the Antivirus if you desire - but the
full product just sucks down the resources and is "too much" for most users.

Dear ALbert,

Have you activated the program yet?

If you haven't, then it should be the activation process (post-install) task
is locking up your computer.

If you have activated, then normally this is due to a malware on you PC or a
disabled Norton Services.

To check, try clicking on Start > Run and type in "services.msc" (without
the quotation marks). Look for the Symantec Core LC service. If it is not
there, then it means that you have to reinstall. If it is, make sure that is
set to 'Automatic'.

If those steps are not relevant, try launching Norton, go to 'Options' and
toggle the tick for the option to startup the program when Windows loads.

Please post your results!

Just go in the Firewall config Programs tab. Highlight and remove all of
the program rules. Then do a Program Scan and let it create all new program
rules.

try turning off norton firewall (pemanantly) and use windows this should stop
windows turning off at every start up
