I installed Norton Internet Security which in turn
installed a toolbar in Outlook 2002 which loads when
Outlook starts up. I can close it once Outlook loads but
I'd rather that it didn't load in the first place. Is
there a way for me to make this modification?

if it won;t stay closed. you'll need to disable it from Norton - probably by
disabling email integration.

You're not specific about the versions of each product
you're using but let me assume that you're talking about
the anti-spam toolbar in the 2004 version of Norton
Internet Security that integrates itself into Outlook. If
this is the case then you can prevent this toolbar from
loading at startup by renaming the following file:

C:Program Files|Common Files|Symantec
Shared|Antispam|Msouplug.dll

I renamed it the MSouplug.olddll

As an aside, I e-mailed Symantec to suggest (in the
strongest terms) that the installation of this new feature
should be optional; I've heard nothing. Those of us
running Outlook 2003 already have the built in Outlook
Anti-Spam facility and I've found that it works well for
me (when used in conjunction with a couple of message
rules).

I hope this helps.

if you don't want Norton integration, disable it in Norton options.

I don't believe that you can fully disable the anti-spam
feature by deselecting the option. Even doing this leaves
the folder present. I can't recall all the reasons why
the only method to get rid of everything was to rename the
dll file but it was.
