Hi all,
Ive just intalled NIS onto a DLL optiplex GX150 running Windows 2000
Sevice pack 4 with ALL patches from Microsoft.
When running with NAV autostarting at boot the system hangs with a
kernel dump trap error .... whatever that is.
If I restart in safe mode with networking a popup box showed erros
with svchost and nothing else loaded.
If starting in safe mode ... no problems.
I was able to switch off the enable autoprotect mode at startup with
NAV.
The dell will boot normally without NAV autostarting, I know i can
switch autoprotect on every time i boot the pc but its frankly a pain.
Full scans with NAV and housecall have shown the system to be clean.
After detecting and removing msblast (with the correct tool) and Jubon
A.
The system still hangs with autoprotect at startup.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I assume you're talking NIS 2004? This is being reported by others,
usually with XP. Until Symantec figures out the problem (it should be a
while, what with emailing back and forth between Cupertino and their
facility in India), your only options are to uninstall the product or
enable autoprotect after successful restart.

Do yourself a big favor and get rid of NAV or anything Norton for that
matter. I did and my systolic pressure dropped 20 points.
