Hello,
NIS 2005 came installed on my now six-month-old PC, but after three months
NIS began to cause Windows to freeze up when I attempted to shut down my
computer. If XP did not freeze up, it took sometimes 5 minutes to shut
down. (When I uninstalled NIS, XP ran just fine; better in fact.) I
contacted Norton and followed their advice (uncheck the antivirus from
scanning the "A" drive during shutdown, but that did no good). So I
uninstalled NIS and re-installed it. Everything ran fine for another three
months until NIS began to cause XP to freeze or slow down during shutdown. I
have plenty of HDD space and plenty of RAM, so that cannot be the issue.
Forutnately NIS did not affect my dial-up connection, but it would sometimes
prevent me from disconnecting, so I had to force the PC to shut down.
Is there anything I should check in either XP or Norton to find a cause of
the problem and prevent this from happening?
