After installing Norton internet security, I cannot go online at all. I had to remove the software

What should I do to install it again. is there anything wrong with the software

If you were able to register and update NIS you were on line, if not there
was something wrong with yr install procedure
 
I had this problem also with NIS2004. I could connect to the internet with everything except that internet explorer would not work at all. They talk about a random problem that will cause this but don't give any real solutions except for noting that it usually has to do with bootup conflicts and the order of startup. I found that I went into my registry editor and changed the name of all of my norton services to start with a 'Z'. This causes them to load last on startup and eliminated startup conflicts. Since then I have had no problems with it anymore.
 
There is a symantec article that suggests, as you found, moving NIS to load
later in start up sequence.
