Norton Error for Shell32.dll....

S

Stuff

Hi,

Running XP-Home.

When running Norton Win Doctor, I get an error that cannot be repaired from
within the utility.

The error window says:
"\System Volume
Information\_restore{880F7505-4FF4-42B4-AB5D-93BC31F2CC25}\RP132\A0030538.PI
F" followed by
"The icon c:\windows\system\shell32.dll cannot be used. The icon file might
have been deleted or the .dll might be corrupt."

Until this is fixed, the Norton Utilities program called Norton Systems
Doctor will always have a "red light!"

Do you have any insight?

Thank you!!!!!!!

This indicates a corruption in the folder used by System Restore and by the
way, this is something on which Norton should not be run since it's activity
itself may be the source of the corruption so if you can exclude System
Volumen Information in the future that will help. As to the current issue,
such corruptions are usually fixed by turning System Restore off, rebooting,
turning it back on and rebooting. Note, this will delete all your restore
points but if there is a corruption , System Restore won't work anyway.

Go to Control Panel, open System, go to the System Restore tab, place a
check next to "Turn off System Restore on all drives, click apply and ok,
reboot, return to this area, deselect that option, click apply and ok and
reboot. That should solve the problem.
