Andre R. LaCouture
I have prob with Norton CleanSweep in Norton System
Works 2003. This is a copy of messsage sent to Norton,
and the response:
to work OK. In 'settings', the 3.8 is in 'internet
history'.
Andre, this issue is mainly because of the index.dat
file, which is always in the open mode, and it cannot be
deleted since it is being used regularly. Since Windows
XP cannot be restarted in DOS Command Line mode this
files cannot be deleted to release space. To know more on
this issue please refer the document provided below:
Title: 'Fast & Safe Cleanup still shows Internet history
after cleaning'

I tried unistall/reinstall CleanSweep... No Luck. Am
using Windows XP.
This is followup from Norton:
Windows NT/2000/XP:
Because there is no method for restarting Windows
NT/2000/XP to a DOS command line, this situation is more
complex for those operating systems. Without the ability
to start in DOS, the operating system maintains the file
in an "open" state, preventing its deletion. For this
reason, contact Microsoft customer support for assistance
in removing the Index.dat file in Windows 2000, Windows
NT, and Windows XP.

be freed. When I do Clean Now, it will not remove. UsedIn said:'clean now' prompt tells me that I have 3.8 mb that can
to work OK. In 'settings', the 3.8 is in 'internet
history'.
