Why don't you try a great FREE AV program called AVG Anti-Virus. (see
www.grisoft.com . The link to the free version can be found at
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php )

I gave up on Norton AV a while ago. It was too slow and took up too many
resources on my computer. I will never go back to Norton AV!

OOOOOH The newsgroup police.

It has nothing to do with being the "newsgroup police".

A.) It's common netiquette.
B.) There are groups for binaries. They're really easy to
find...they have "binaries" in the name.
The file is safe

Oh, well, if a stranger says so it MUST be true...I suppose you tell
your children (ok, ok, brothers and sisters) that eating candy from
strangers is ok as long as the stranger says the candy is safe?
and **** symantec

Yeah, you tell 'em!!
they make the viruses to sell there software!!

Ooh, everyone loves a conspiracy silly--er, I mean, theory--especially
when there are no facts to back them up!

Sure let me call my friends at Business Software Associates. They want to
meet people ust like you!

Contact symantec.

Or for personal use, try Avast!, AntiVir, or AVG. If you only need
on-demand scan, also examine BitDefender and Antidote. These and
others are linked in numerous threads. Some are listed in
pricelessware.org.

Computer Associates etrust antivirus and firewall are available for
one year according to a post I just saw.

You all got screwed by Enron and WorldCom . They own Symantec. So screw
them.

I agree on norton. But just what IS a binary post as apposed to this one?
I thought ALL print was binary???

*snip*

While all data on a computer comes down to binary, the common usage is
the content of the file. If it contains only ASCII text, then it's
usually labeled ASCII. If it contains non-ASCII text, then it's
usually labeled as binary.

Examples of ASCII: TXT, HTML, RTF
Examples of binary: EXE, ZIP, RAR, GIF, etc
