When I downloaded the update for the anti-spyware and restarted I get a
message that says that the driver for the Norton Antivirus software did not
load. The security center says its not turned on but when I open the program
it says it is running.
Anyone have an answer?

Thanks
John

I am having the same problem with Norton on both my work & home machines
running Windows XP Professional & Norton 2004. Have you had any feedback as
how to resolve the issue?

I'm also having the exact same problem. Norton AntiVirus 2004, Windows XP
Pro SP2, Microsoft AntiSpyware 1.0.701. Help from someone would be
appreciated since this is obviously not an isolated issue.

Same products, same levels, no problems. However, I un-installed via
Add/Remove, deleted MSAS folders and c:\windows\downloaded
installations\previous msas downloads, then re-installed from a fresh manual
download. You might try that, though your mileage may vary.

I'm afraid my difficulty in dealing with this thread is that in my own
experience, Norton Antivirus consumer versions are sufficiently problematic
on their own that I really don't have any trouble ascribing these issues
entirely to that product on its own, without any help from Microsoft
Antispyware.

I realize this isn't a lot of help, so perhaps I shouldn't have posted it at
all. One way to approach this would be to uninstall Microsoft Antispyware,
see whether that corrects things. If not, go through whatever processes
Norton has in place to get their product working properly again, and then
consider whether to try the beta again once Norton is working right.

I solved my Norton problems by opening Norton and running a Live Update.
Then, rebooted my machines and Norton's autoprotect driver error corrected
itself and my MSN email began functioning normally. So try this and see if
it solves your problem too.

I installed the latest ASW autoupgrade install and after reboot started up
email client. Both accounts that use standard port (110) failed to connect
to server. Then I noticed that Norton AV (2004) was not running. Tried to
start it and it could not run AutoProtect and Email Scanning was showing an
error.
I uninstalled ASW. Same problem. Rebooted. Problem is now gone.
I run Win2K. My other PC is also Win2K but has NAV 2005. It does not seem
to have any problem.
