Norton Antivirus Auto protect won't activate

After loading the MS Beta antispyware I can't turn on the
Autoprotect feature of Norton Antivirus 2004.

Also the live update feature of notron won't work.

Any thoughts on how to activate it?

Go to www.symantec.co.uk and Download Virus Definitions
(Intelligent Updater Only) - Live Update does not give
you the same files.
