Problem with Lan card and Norton AV 2004:
Using Norton Antivirus 2004 - all updated and functioning properly. Clean
install of Windows 98SE - no other programs installed except Windows,
drivers and Norton AV 2004. When I restart or shut down I'll get a blue
screen with a Fatal Exception error (no module listed) based on 0D or 0E.
This happens randomly, maybe once every 5 or 10 restarts. Took me quite a
while to find what was causing it, but it appears to be the LAN card.
Everything is fine until the LAN Card driver is installed - then the Fatal
Exceptions start coming on shut down or restart. Tried two different LAN
cards - SiS 900 onboard and an Intel Etherexpress - both cause the problem.
Remove Norton Antivirus and the problem is gone. So, this is a problem with
Norton AV and Lan cards.
Does anyone know of a fix for this? Is there a bulletin from Symantec? If
I can't get a solution, I'll be forced to use McAffee instead for my
customers.
Thanks in advance!
