First of all, this isn't the place to ask for illegal software (warez,
cracks etc). alt.comp.freeware is for FREEWARE ONLY

Secondly, personally, I wouldn't touch Norton if you paid me (it's a POS!)

Yes Mr. Burn, I've been burned by Norton too.

The anti-vir I found here works just fine.

A man of my own kind!

I have seen far less problematic viruses and trojans that NAV itself!
Install NAV and look at all the registry entries it adds! Un installing it
leaves all sorts of junk. Ptooie!

In the payware realm, I believe Nod32 rules.

Why not stick with NAV2003? I hadn't any problems with it since the day it
came out...
And why would a man want to uninstall so good piece like NAV (that's 2003).
I agree 2004 is shit, though. And this goes for NIS2004, too.

I have been Using Norton for more than 5 years now with no regrets. It
has been able to detect viruses that many other antivirus programs
have failed. It's worth every cent.I think your only bone is that it
ain't freeware.

hehe, actually, the fact it isn't freeware plays absolutely no part in my
disliking Symntec products. It's more to do with the fact that they are
amongst the most common causes of PC problems, and are unbelievably bloated.

Anything from Symantec is a piece of crap these days. If it works for you,
consider yourself lucky. Hopefully it won't stop working for you.

Bill,

It would help if you learned how to quote. See
http://www.netmeister.org/news/learn2quote.html for details.

The way you're doing it now just makes you sound schizophrenic.

The problem may not be with the Norton but something else as I have
never encountered any problem with Norton antivirus for the past 5
years. I used to have a problem with the Norton GoBack program but I
eventually found out that ti was another program that was clashing
with it and after deleting that program the GoBack worked fine. I am
still using Norton utilities without any hitch. And with the size of
hard drives these days, no program can be too bloated. I have been
using a 8 gig hard drive for five years now and it is only 60% full.
And I have tons of programs in my pc, the largest of which is
Micro$oft Office Profe$$ional. :)

I agree with the above. I wouldn't be without Norton Utilities. The big
problem with Norton is when the user is not experienced - Norton can
really screw up that machine.
