C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start
Menu\Programs\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ADMINI~1

It switches off between Admini~1, WS_FTP, and ACCESS~1 and never leaves.

I have let it run for over 12 hours once, the file count was past 10,000,000
and it simply just never gets out of this directory. I have checked the
directory thoroughly and there are not many files in it at all.

Any clues to what the problem might be?

Thanx.

A couple of ideas:

1. If this is XP and it's an NTFS disk, there might be a junction (reparse)
point in one of those directories that points back to a point higher up in the
tree, leading to a loop. If XP and NTFS, download JunctionLinkMagic from
http://www.codeproject.com/w2k/junctionpoints.asp to look for such a link.

2. There might be some file system corruption. In a command window, type
"CHKDSK c: /F". Reboot the system and let it run a file system check.

Actually I came to find it was the long file name ignoring that XP has. Had
to edit the registry to disable it and bam, went right past that directory
like it should have.

Thanks for your help.
