Norton AntiVirus 2003 Autoprotect Starts Disabled

On a new PC just built, using Win2K SP4 and NAV 2003,
Windows always starts up with NAV Autoprotect disabled,
even if it was enabled during the previous session. PC is
standalone, and user is Administrator. Any idea why
Autoprotect won't remain enabled?

We would need any error messages from the windows event logs and/or any
errors that pop up when you try to re-enable the service. Then you might
consider searching www.sarc.com and www.google.com and
www.google.com/advanced_group_search for that error message.

Check your Services, specifically the one dealing with Symantec.

Had the same thing occur on a client who had a virus.

Even after the virus was manual eliminated, the NAV Autoprotect would come
up Disabled, start it and on reboot would be disabled.
