Norton Anti-Virus Affecting SQL Across Network--

I help maintain a small software package developed using Microsoft
Visual Basic that utilizes Microsoft SQL Server.

I'm having major speed issues when it comes to making queries across
the network. I have tracked the problem down to Norton Anti-Virus. If
I disable the realtime virus scanning the speed is not increased and
still runs slow. If I completely uninstall Norton then my queries go
down from 20 seconds to 2 seconds.

I have tried MCAFFE Anti-Virus and have no problems.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any help is appreciated.

BTW, this is reproducable on different networks with Norton Anti-Virus
installed.

Interesting, but you haven't said if it's NAV on the desktops or on the SQL
server.

I personally wouldn't have it on either but that's just my own personal
oppinion of the majority of Symantec software.
