Is there a newsgroup solely set up for solving problems with Norton AV
and XP (or any OS)?

Thanks! Marty

Norton/Symantec stopped newsgroup support years ago. There are tons of left
over Symantec newsgroups in Usenet. How long ago was it - just look at
about 100 of the Symantec newsgroups, and not one has "XP" as part of the
name. There is help among each other in a few of the Symantec newsgroups.

Voice is $29.95 per incident. Website support is very strong. But if you
are not technical, you are kinda screwed. There is a way to email them
from their website, but it is (was at least, don't know now) very
difficult to find the right place to do it from).

Now that said, Norton is obviously geared towards businesses and not
individuals.

But you know, look at it this way - I bought SystemWorks 2003 in 2003,
then in 2004 upgraded to NSW 2004, and with the two rebates that usually
accompanies the cost of Symantec products (one for being an owner of a
previous version) I think I paid like $12. & then I got a whole new year
subscription to updates. And just this last week, SystemWorks 2005 was
available at the store with the accompanying double rebates. And if I
bought, it would have cost me after rebates a grand total of $0... And
then to boot I'd have gotten a whole new year of anti-virus updates and
other updates.

So, it is just about free once you buy the 1st program, so I can't
complain a whole lot about the tech help. (lack of it, rather).
...D.

Oh I know what you mean. Rebates are one of the reasons I bought the
Norton AV and firewall. After it was all said and done it only cost me
$10 for the pair. That and they came highly recommended....
But twice I received a worm in an email. (Netsky and Swen) On the upside
is I was alerted before I even visited my inbox, but on the downside I
didn't feel Norton savvy enough to feel comfortable dealing with
them....
I just thought it would be prudent to ask someone about my settings and
know of a place to go when/if a problem arises....

Stay Safe; Marty
