Norton 360 Public Beta

Symantec's Web site states that Norton 360 does not work on any pre-release
versions of Vista, meaning Beta 1, Beta 2, Release Candidate 1 and Release
Candidate 2.

I point this out because I continue to successfully run RC2 until Vista
Business "Gold" can be purchased, so I have to be aware of these sorts of
things.

Suppose to be Vista ready. A all round program to protect your home
network.

I gave up, very reluctantly, on Norton Internet Security after many years of
using it because the most recent version was completely unusable. The main
problem was that it would simply take complete control over the machine for
what seemed like minutes at a time while it did its stuff...

This latest release will have to be outstanding indeed to tempt me away from
AVG...

I have a hard time uninstalling Symantec's commercial products, I can't
imagine what would happen with the beta version.

I agree. I used Norton IS 2003. Persevered for some time, then finally
decided it was slowing down my machine too much. Decided to give Norton
Systemworks 2006 a try (wanted Ghost). Gave up on it after a month or so.
Their stuff is complete tosh. It's OK if you want your nice powerful system
to run like the last computer you had and dumped. But if you want something
usable, don't consider it.

I use AVG on XP, and Avast on Vista-64.

Let's just say that they recommend ghosting the machine before installing
any beta test, and provide this tool to their testers as a matter of course.
In fact, for valid testing scenarios they do not want you to uninstall a
build and install an newer version, but rather wipe and reload the ghosted
image.
